Trails:

The Kancamagus Highway has many hiking opportunities for hikers of all levels. All trailheads on the Kancamagus require a recreation pass. Daily passes can be obtained at the trailheads, and annual and weekly passes can be obtained at the Ranger Stations. This site is not affiliated with the White Mountain National Forest.

Boulder Loop Trail
2.8 Miles (Round Trip)
Easy/Moderate Level
Average Time: 2-4 hours.
This trail is located 6 miles west of the Saco Ranger Station. This trail offers great views, a gradual climb, and some steep ledges. At these steep ledges breathtaking views of Mt. Chocorua and Swift River Valley can be admired on this trail.
The Lovequist Loop Trail

Average Time: One Hour
This trail can be found 9 miles west of the Saco Ranger Station at Rocky Gorge. This trail is a short easy walk around Falls Pond. This scenic pond walk is sure to take your breath away.
Rail n' River Trail

Average Time: 10 minutes to One Hour.
The trail is located 12 miles west of the Saco Ranger Station. Park at the Russell Colbath house and follow this quick, easily accessible trail.
Mt. Hedgehog
5 miles (Round Trip)
Moderately difficult
Average Time: 4-5 hours.
The trail is located 13.5 miles from the Saco Ranger Station. Start your hike at the UNH Downes Brook trailhead located across from the Passaconway campground. The trail will lead you up Mt. Hedgehog to its summit. Here you can enjoy one of kind views of the Swift River Valley. Please use caution on this trail.
Mt. Potash Hike

Average Time: 4 hours
The trail is located 13.5 miles from the Saco Ranger Station. Start your hike at the UNH Downes Brook trailhead located across from the Passaconway campground. You will take a sharp right to take this trail. It will lead you to spectacular views of the other mountains and the Swift River Valley.
Greeley Ponds Trail

Moderately Easy
Average Time: 2.5-3 hours.
The trailhead can be found 9 miles east of exit 32, I 93. This area features two ponds, Upper Greely Pond and Lower Greely Pond. Both ponds offer different views and make great spots to fish and have a picnic. Greeley Ponds are the perfect place to spend a relaxing day outdoors.
Forest Discovery Trail
1.4 mile (accessible trail loop)
Easy
Average Time: One hour
This is a really fun, easy trail and would be great to do with kids to learn about the forest and ecology. It offers panels to help visitors learn about natural and managed forest ecology.
