Sabbaday Falls:

Legend has it that on Saturday November 26, 1852 with winter rapidly approaching, workers building a road from Albany to Waterville decided it was time to call it quits. The workers hid their tools, planning to return the following spring. Before leaving on the following morning: a Sunday, they named the brook Sabbaday Brook for the Sabbath Day, or "Sabbaday." The workers never returned to complete the road, but the name has endured. This site is not affiliated with the White Mountain National Forest.
